Durnford class - E-Safety

We have discussed how to keep safe online and have come up with these rules that we think everyone should follow:

Be kind to other people on the internet

If someone is unkind, block them.

If you are unsure, ask an adult.

Keep your personal details personal.

Do not talk to people you don’t know.

If something happens that makes you feel uncomfortable, tell an adult.

Never send your location to strangers.

Play with people you know.

Click on Hector the dolphin if you see something on a school computer you don’t like.

Treat all equipment at school with respect.

Don’t pay for anything online- always ask an adult.

SMART rules

Safe: Keep safe by being careful not to give out personal information – such as your name, email, phone number, home address, or school name – to people who you don’t trust online…

Meeting: Meeting someone you have only been in touch with online can be dangerous. Only do so with your parents’ or carers’ permission and even then only when they can be present…

Accepting: Accepting emails, IM messages, or opening files, pictures or texts from people you don’t know or trust can lead to problems – they may contain viruses or nasty messages!…

Reliable:  Someone online may be lying about who they are, and information you find on the internet may not be reliable…

Telling:  Tell your parent, carer or a trusted adult if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried.
