This school is committed to creating the ethos in which children can grow towards Christian Life, Learning and Love.
Our positive learning environment is built on an evolving, enriching and creative curriculum. As an academy, we are able to blend national objectives with our individual tailor made provision.
We are very committed to a curriculum with scope and sequence, in which childrens’ new learning is built on their previous knowledge. In order for new learning to be incorporated, there must be a strong framework already in place. As Mark Van Doren has said, “Any piece of knowledge I acquire today has a value at this moment exactly proportional to my skill to deal with it. Tomorrow, when I know more, I recall that piece of knowledge and I use it better.”
Our job is to ensure that knowledge and skills are incrementally increased as children progress through our school, and that children can use this freely and skilfully to continue on their learning journey through life. We focus strongly on our school values to help children gain the independence and resilience they need to be truly effective learners.
This, combined with our teaching and subject expertise, ensures a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum. Literacy and Numeracy skills are linked meaningfully throughout our vibrant programme of learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
